SHILLONG: In a move to defuse the snowballing tension over arrests of civil society members, the Meghalaya Government on Thursday revoked charges under the tough Meghalaya Preventive Detention Act (MPDA) imposed against the three NGO activists who had been arrested during the ILP agitation last year.

“We have passed the order to revoke the MPDA imposed against the three NGO members,” a senior government official said on Thursday. Among the three booked under MPDA, two are KSU activists Johny Sohkhlet and Readytonstone Nongrum while the third is HNYF member Everson Syngkon.
