St Peter’s top WKH athletics meet

NONGSTOIN: The 21st West Khasi Hills District Level Inter School athletic meet concluded at the Nongpathar Stadium here on Friday.

The overall champions award for the three-day event went to St Peter’s HS School, Nongstoin.

Seventeen schools participated in the meet.

In the under-14 boys category, Peiphang Phylla Syiemlieh of Anderson Higher Sec School was adjudged Best Athlete.

Aibianghun Dkhar of Anderson HSS Nongstoin won the corresponding award among the girls.

Johnevenderson Diengdoh (Lurmangkara Sec School Risiang) and Badashisha Marngar (BBC Sec School) won the Best Athlete award for U-16 boys and girls, respectively.

In the above-16 category, the Best Athlete awards went to Basil Paliar (St Peter’s HS School) for the boys and Bliancy Myrthong (Lurmangkara Sec School) for the girls.

St Peter’s also won the Best Team award for boys, while Lurmangkara Secondary bagged the Best Team honour for girls.

PD Sangma, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Project Director of DRDA Nongstoin attended the closing ceremony as chief guest.

The District Sports Officer PB War Nongbri announced that a coaching camp organised by his office will prepare selected students next week for the upcoming State Level Athletic Meet in Shillong.
