SHILLONG: There is a demand to translate Meghalaya Mining Policy in local languages.
While commenting on the NGT order to ban rat hole mining, the AJYWO Central Governing Body asked the Meghalaya government to translate the Meghalaya Mines and Minerals Policy 2012 into Khasi, Jaintia and Garo.
“If the NGT sticks to its order in the next hearing on May 19, Meghalaya would have no other alternative but to surrender to the Meghalaya Mines and Minerals Policy 2012.
Before the mining policy is implemented in the State, “We demand from the Government of Meghalaya to translate the policy into local languages-Khasi, Garo Jaintia so that the people would understand all the sections”, said M H Dkhar, president of AJYWO.
