6-wkt wins for East Khasi Hills and SCA

SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills and Shillong Cricket Association 1 won their matches of the U-16 Inter District Cricket Tournament and Women’s Cricket Tournament, respectively, by six wickets each at the Cricket Ground, Polo, on Monday.
EKH won the toss and put Ri-Bhoi in to bat first.
The team batting first were skittled for 65 runs in 10.4 overs. Kumar Pradhan top-scored with 28, while Jedylbert Swer took 4-8 in 1.4 overs. Derygan Lyngdoh claimed 2-13.
In reply, East Khasi Hills crossed the finish line with the loss of four wickets in 13.3 overs. Purna B Chettri made 27, while Vicky Chettri took 3-13 in 2.3 overs.
The second match saw SCA 1 beat South West Khasi Hills after the latter won the toss and chose to bat first.
SWKH could only make 86/4 in the allotted 15 overs, with Luiza Tamang contributing 22 runs. Pinky Chanda and Roshni Bhushal claimed two wickets each.
In reply, SCA 1 reached the target in 14.1 overs for the loss of four wickets.
Silse Sangma top-scored with 38 off 39 balls, while Tiewshailin Lyngdoh and Rebeldalis Syiemlieh each bagged one wicket.
Monday’s defeat contrasted with the success that South West Khasi Hills enjoyed on Sunday in the inaugural match of the Inter Disctrict Women’s Cricket Tournament where they thrashed Shillong Cricket Association (Laban) by nine wickets.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, SCA Laban were dismissed for a paltry 33 in 10.5 overs. Luiza took 2-5 in three overs for SWKH.
In reply, the target was reached in just 6.4 overs for the toss of one wicket.
Riti Debbarma scored 12, while Shehnaz Parveen was the lone wicket-taker.
