SHILLONG: A driver of a truck (ASOIBC- 9127) was killed during a head on collision with another truck near the Umroi airport junction at Madan Umroi under Umsning block, Ri Bhoi on Wednesday afternoon.
The victim died on the spot. The 108 emergency service ambulance based in Bhoirymbong helped in shifting Banker Dkhar (23) and Shimti Rymbai (23) to Bhoirymbong CHC and then to Shillong Civil Hospital. Both the injured were helpers of both the trucks.
In another incident, a vehicle (MLO6 5813) heading towards Nongstoin was hit by a pick-up truck at Saitkhlieh under Mawphlang Block, East Khasi Hills on May 13 morning. In yet another case, a truck loaded with timber rolled over the road near Mawlangdep Village under Nongstoin Block on May 12. The injured Terbanjop Nongphut (26) and Darius Thongni (36) were admitted at Nongstoin Civil Hospital.
