HNLC cadre gives up

SHILLONG: In yet another jolt to HNLC, a cadre of the 2002 batch of the banned outfit surrendered before the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Shillong on Wednesday.

The surrendered cadre has been identified as Wanbor Khardewsaw alias Lung alias William of Pyndensohsaw, Mawsynram,

Wanbor Khardewsaw had managed to escape a police ambush earlier this month at Lad Balki, Dangar while he was moving in a bike along with another HNLC cadre Wansing Umlong alias Muh.

Wansing Umlong was arrested on the day of the ambush. Wanbor Khardewsaw surrendered on Wednesday, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police M Kharkrang said.

He was the personal security of the self-styled HNLC commander-in-chief, Bobby Marwein. He surrendered without arms. Meanwhile, the families were overjoyed over the return of the surrendered cadre to home after 12 years.
