SHILLONG: UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh on Monday sought to dismiss speculations on the fate of the All Regional Parties’ Alliance (ARPA) Executive Committee in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, saying that the issue should not be linked with the outcome of the election to the Shillong Lok Sabha seat.

“Right from the start, we were very clear that these two issues would not be linked. The UDP decision to be part of the KHADC was taken at the highest level with the consent of the party MDCs,” Lyngdoh told newsmen.

He was, however, quick to add that the fate of the present Executive Committee would depend on the leadership qualities of the incumbent CEM Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit.

“He (Basaiawmoit) should be able to develop team work by allotting each and every member of the alliance with adequate responsibilities. As long there is team work, the present EC would continue to survive,” he said.
