NEW DELHI: The high voter turnout in Arunachal Pradesh in the recently concluded elections should serve as a reminder to China that the Himalayan state is an integral part of India, newly elected BJP MP from Arunachal Pradesh, Kiren Rijiju has said.

The 70 per cent voter turnout was a statement the patriotic people of Arunachal had given, he said. By exercising their democratic right, they had proved they were proud to call India their home, and wanted to actively take part in all its matters, he said.

India would engage as equal partners in all matters to ensure peaceful relations with China, Rijju said. “But we will continue to strengthen our border areas and improve the infrastructure there, paying close attention and giving priority to the neglected and vulnerable parts of the state,” he added.
