SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Revenue and Disaster Management Prof RC Laloo said that militants are exploiting grievances of the people to lure youth into their fold.

He said that the State has been witnessing a share of violence and threat to the security by acts of terrorism perpetrated by the banned militant outfits.
“Many precious lives have been lost. Many people live in the shadow of fears due to threats of being kidnapped or killed by militants and terrorists. Trade, commerce and economic development as a whole has been adversely affected and the common people are the worst sufferers,” Deputy Chief Minister said while administering the pledge which focuses to safeguard national security while observing the “anti-terrorism day” to commemorate the service of the late leader former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
He also said that the country has lost many of its prominent leaders in the hands of the dreadful terrorists.
“India is facing multifarious challenges in the management of its internal security. There is an upsurge of terrorist activities, intensification of cross border terrorist activities and insurgent groups in different parts of the country,” Deputy Chief Minister said.
Meanwhile, Prof Laloo said that terrorism is a world-wide problem adding that the governments throughout the world are realizing that terrorism is a serious threat to be dealt with.
