Nongthymmai inter-block football tournament enters 2nd round

SHILLONG: The second round of the Nongthymmai Sports & Cultural Club’s Inter Block Football Tournament began on Wednesday with Dum Dum-B and Nongkhyriem-B emerging as winners.
Dum Dum-B beat Nongkhyriem-A 3-1 thanks to goals scored by Shanbor Ryndong, Ronal Ryndong and Dashan Nengnong, while Pynshngain Kharkongor scored for the losers.
Nongkhyriem-B squeezed past Lawjynriew-J thanks to a single goal from Busel Lynshiang.
The tournament began with 25 teams from Nongthymmai Pyllun, with 12 reaching the second round.
The dozen teams that qualified for the second round were: Nongkhyriem-A and Nongkhyriem-B from Group A; Lawjynriew-J and Dum Dum-B from Group B; Lawjynriew-F and Demthring-A from Group C; Pohktieh-A and Dum Dum-A from Group D; Nongshilliang-B and Lawjynriew-I from Group E and Lawjynriew-H and Lawjynriew-B from Group F.
Two more matches will be held on Thursday in round two.
In the first, scheduled for 1:30pm, Lawjynriew-F will take on Dum Dum-A, while Pohktieh-A go up against Demthring-A at 3:00pm.
