SHILLONG: An individual identified as Mary G Momin, who claims to be from Achik Senior Citizen Forum has written letters to Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma, the DGP and Governor alleging that the East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner has nexus with militants.

“Pay mandatory cut or percentage to the Deputy Commissioner and setup your check gate, extortion point and money can be collected from the coal laden trucks,” the complainant said

She also said that the DC justifies all the collection from NH 62 stating that this has order from the top where he definitely means the Chief Minister and the social welfare minister.

She further alleged that the DC has instilled fear in the minds of the people by talking about his links with militant leaders even as she alleged that anyone who stands up to him gets threats and messages to step back.

“They are all flourishing, GNLA, UALA, ANVC, ANVC-B under the care of the Deputy Commissioner who allows the rape of NH-62 and joins in when he feels the need for his mindless lust of money,” she alleged.

When Contacted, Deputy Commissioner Vijay Kr Mantri refused to respond to the allegations.
