GSU seeks compensation for Chokpot custodial death victim

BAGHMARA: The Garo Students’ Union Southern Zone on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma demanding a judicial inquiry and compensation for the kin of late Witson Sangma, the Chokpot custodial death victim.

The memorandum was submitted through the South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner.

The GSU has demanded an independent judicial probe into the alleged custodial death of Witson while in police custody at Chokpot Police Station. They also demanded adequate compensation in the form of ex gratia for the kin of the deceased.

The GSU also added that the State Home Minister should terminate and punish all those officials who have a hand in the custodial death of late Sangma.
