MLCU, Soulmate partner for music conce

SHILLONG: The Department of Fine Arts, Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong, will organise Ha Jylli ki Khriang, a music concert on June 7 at U Soso Tham Auditorium from 4:30 pm onwards.

This event will be a melting pot of genres as the fine arts students of the University will showcase their work of art ranging from Western to Hindustani music backed by the strong elements of indigenous music from the hills of Meghalaya and Northeast region. Performers including Shillong-based international blues band Soulmate are gearing up for their experimental rendition combining slide guitar and Ka Bom with more Khasi percussions. Soulmate manager Keith Wallang said, “This event will go a long way in exposing the students to professional platforms. Soulmate is looking forward to be part of it.” The event is supported by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Casio, Yamaha- Melody and Shillong Society for the Performing Arts. Tickets priced at Rs. 300, 200 and 150 are available at Regetta – Laitumkhrah, Melody and Fantas – Police Bazar, Meikha Shop – Mawlai and Nangroi Bookstall – Motphran. Tickets will also be available at the venue on the day of the event.
