SHILLONG: The UDP has decided to write to the Prime Minister demanding the dismissal of the Mukul Sangma-led MUA Government following the spate of violence in Garo Hills including the killing of a )35-year-old woman by GNLA militants.

The Opposition Leader Donkupar Roy, while condemning the incident on Wednesday, said that law and order situation in Garo Hill had deteriorated badly and hence, the Chief Minister should resign.

“The ongoing violent incidents have reached a point of no return and the Government is not able to control the situation which calls for the immediate resignation of Chief Minister,” Roy said.

“We will seek the intervention of the Centre in this regard”, Roy added.

The Central Executive Committee of UDP will meet on Friday to discuss the situation.
