SHILLONG: The CSWO has expressed shock over CM Jha getting bail when he allegedly cheated many students in Meghalaya as many had to take loans to pay for their studies. “Some have even lost out on their years as they trusted the Government that has passed the Act related to the setting up of University”, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said in a statement issued on Thursday.

In fact even the State Government is partially responsible for passing hurriedly many University Acts without taking the public opinion which should have been done, and the politicians then, should also be interrogated and booked.

“The Government Pleader in the High Court should have informed the CID about the move for bail and should have strengthened the report and strongly objected the bail, but instead the CID were not informed and this has shown that the prosecution does not work with the police who are trying to strengthen the case against such person”, Kharshiing said

According to CSWO, the Chief Secretary too has to be held responsible for failing to ) follow up when the UGC vide forwarding letter no F.8-21/2010(CPP-I/PU dated 22.10.2013 had sent the report of the UGC expert Committee to the Office of the Governor’s Secretariat and to the Office of the Chief Secretary for necessary action.
