SHILLONG: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), State Unit has demanded the removal of the Director General of Police PJP Hanaman in view of the deteriorating law and order situation in Garo Hills. It also demanded the appointment of a senior IPS officer to the post.
General secretary of State BJYM, Phermanbha War made the demand during the state executive meeting at the BJP office in Shillong on Saturday. The meeting was presided over by State BJYM president, Egenstar Kurkalang .
The meeting condemned the killing of the woman in Chokpot and questioned the police machinery for failing to get information about the movements of militants in the area at a time when the law and order situation was already grim and even a curfew was clamped.
“The incident clearly proves the failure of the state intelligence department,” the BJYM said while demanding a Rs 20 lakh compensation for the victim’s family.
“The Government should also ensure free education to the children of the victim,” the BJYM said.
The BJYM also urged the State Government to ensure that common man is secured in the State.
