SHILLONG: The Special Task Force (STF) of the West Bengal Police on Sunday arrested two overground workers of the proscribed HNLC from Kolkata.
The duo has been identified as Albert Jaroa (29) of Nongrimmaw, Laitumkhrah, and Amar Sinha of Nongrim Maw, Shillong.
A police team from Shillong is already in Kolkata to bring the duo here.
Following intelligence inputs from Shillong, the STF arrested the overground cadres who had worked closely with another member of the outfit, Phyrnai Swer, who was apprehended in Kolkata earlier in the year.
Kolkata Police had arrested Phyrnai and his associate, Nand Kishore Thakur, from Kalikapur area of West Bengal on April 1.
The State Police were on the lookout for Phyrnai after he had escaped from NEIGRIHMS on July 17 last year.
Two police constables – Meytush Sangma and Sanborlang Shylla – were arrested after the cadre escaped from the hospital.
It was on January 24 last year that Jaintia Hills Police arrested Phyrnai from Iawmusiang, Jowai. The cadre was holding the rank of lieutenant in the HNLC.
