CMJ’s wife arrested, released

SHILLONG: The wife of CMJ University Vice Chancellor Chandra Mohan Jha, who was arrested by CID on Monday from her Malki residence, was later released on bail.

Sources from the CID said that Indu Rani Jha was arrested as she was a member of the CMJ Foundation and several financial matters pertaining to the Foundation were looked after by her. She was produced in the CJM Court and CID had prayed for five-day custody of her. But her lawyer produced in the court an anticipatory bail she had secured previously. The anticipatory bail, which was granted by an assistant judge, is valid till June 19.

The CJM court later ordered her release on bail.
