South West Khasi Hills Subroto Cup concludes

SHILLONG: The three schools that will represent South West Khasi Hills at the state level Subroto Cup were decided in the district level finals at the Saitsnad Playground, Mawlangwir, on Monday.

Sakwang Presbyterian Sec School were the under-17 girls winners with a 3-0 victory over Jakrem Presbyterian Sec School.

Dakyntiewnam Nongsiej gave her team an early 2-0 lead with goals in the fourth and ninth minutes before Bashanti Kharjahrin (51st min) added the third.

In the U-14 boys category, Rodphod Sec School came from a goal behind to win their final against Presbyterian Sec School, Mawlangwir 2-1.

Shaphrang Marwein opened in the third minute, but Afterson Ramsiej (10th) and Sherbasar Syiemlieh (63rd) then rescued the situation for Rodphod.

Nativity Hr Sec School also took an early lead against Jakrem Pres Sec School in the U-17 boys final before the latter team came through 3-2.

Firsterwell K Wanniang scored a brace for the losing team (6th, 42nd) but a goal apiece from Simmion Syiemlieh (9th), Wanbokskhem Wahlang (20th) and Albert Jahrin (67th) ensure victory for Jakrem.

R Lyngdoh, DC of South West Khasi Hills, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
