SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has allayed the impression that the police are ill-equipped in terms of fire power to take on the militants.

Clarifying his statement made in the Assembly that police cannot match with the firepower of militants, Sangma on Tuesday said that police have all the sophisticated weapons. “But the police do not have under-barrel grenade launchers, but this does not mean that they are ill equipped since the service of other security agencies are sought during operations”. “How our police can have access to sophisticated machines need not be answered and the police are fully supported by other security agencies with the assistance from MHA”, Sangma said.
