SHILLONG: Nongthymmai UDP legislator, Jemino Mawthoh, has questioned the delay of the State Government in finalizing the State Sports Policy.

“The policy has been lingering over the past many years. As per the latest information, the policy is not going to be approved anytime soon since it has gone back to the resource group,” Mawthoh said while participating in the general discussion on the budget, in the Assembly, here on Wednesday.

The UDP legislator said that the youth affairs should be given more emphasis by the government.

He also expressed disappointment over the lack of infrastructure to nurture the talented youth, who want to make a career in sports.

“The Government should also provide incentives to support these talented youth,” the legislator added.
