SHILLONG: PWD Minister Sniawbhlang Dhar had to tender an apology in the Assembly on Thursday to Chokpot legislator Clifford R Marak after the latter had threatened to move a privilege motion for misleading the House.
Marak had raised a question on the repair of the Chokpot-Daramgre road.
In reply, Dhar informed that the last repair of the Chokpot-Daramgre road was done in 2013-2014.
Being unsatisfied with the reply, Chokpot legislator said that the Minister was misleading the House since being the local MLA he knew that the road was not repaired for the last ten years.
Dhar in his reply said that though major work was carried out in the 10 kms Chokpot-Daramgre road, regular maintenance was carried out by the muster roll of the department.
Unsatisfied with the reply and firm on his stand that repair work was carried out only 10 years back, Marak said: “I demand an apology from the Minister. If you do not apologise I will move a privilege motion against you,” Marak said.
Following this threat from the Chokpot MLA, Dhar was quick to apologise.
