Three workers suspended, 18 more to be penalized

Malaria Outbreak in Tripura

Agartala:  The Health Directorate has suspended three multipurpose workers (MPW) and initiated action against 18 others on alleged negligence of duty in malaria affected Gandacherra sub-division of Dhalai district in North Tripura.
During supervising, the medical operation Health Minister Badal Choudhury found negligence of three health workers in providing treatment to the patients in Bhagirathpara primary health centre and 18 ASHA and Anganwadi workers in other adjacent areas said health officials here on Saturday.
According to report, MPWs had failed to perform properly in the hospitals while ASHA and Anganwadi workers failed to get information of the spread of vector borne diseases including malaria in the villages.
Choudhury in the review meeting with top officials directed the authority to take action against all the erring employees and issued strong warning to perform round the clock inside and outside supervision of the hospital to tackle the situation. “I have made it clear to ensure cent percent blood testing to the all the people living in the affected villages and take preventive measures to fight with the diseases and there is no dearth of fund and medicine,” Choudhury told media. He, however, refused to accept the situation as epidemic.
“Our assessment says the situation is now under control and all preventive measures will ensure prevention of diseases in the district,”  Choudhury claimed adding that adequate number of doctors and medical workers along with medicines had already dispatched in the villages. There is no report of any more death in vector borne diseases in any part of the state and death toll remained as 21 on so far. (UNI)
