SHILLONG: Nongthymmai legislator Jemino Mawthoh said that the common citizens of the State have been made to suffer due to ongoing cold war between the PHE department and PWD road.

“We are aware that the implementation of the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme (GSWSS) Phase III has suffered due to the cold war between the two major departments (PHE and PWD),” Mawthoh said during the Question Hour in the Assembly on Thursday.

On account of this cold war, he said that major and internal road in various parts of the city which have been damage due to laying of the main feeder pipes had remained unrepaired for many months.

“As per my information, the PHE has outstanding dues which need to be paid to the PWD,” Mawthoh said.

He said that there is no justification that the common people should suffered due to tussle between these two departments. While stating that the outstanding dues of the PHE to the PWD is zero, Deputy Chief Minister in charge PHE Prof RC Laloo in his reply said that there is no truth there is a ‘cold war’ between the two departments.

He claimed that the officials of the two departments are always ready to work in close coordination with each other for the best interest of the people of the State.
