SHILLONG: The third day of the East Khasi Hills Subroto Cup football tournament saw a few one-sided matches, but four had to go to penalties to decide a winner in the games played at Polo Grounds on Wednesday.
In the U-14 boys category H Elias beat Lumkynsai HSS 4-0, while St Anthony’s breezed past Thangsning HSS 5-0. St Paul’s HS did even better, getting past Mawpdai 6-0.
Tyrsad HSS and Govt Boys were deadlocked at 0-0 before the former came through the shoot-out 5-2.
In the U-17 boys category, St John’s Sohra eclipsed Tyrsad 8-0, while H Elias recorded their second 4-0 victory of the day by beat St John’s Lawsohtun.
Christian Academy were involved in a close fight against Risa HSS, coming away 2-1 winners, while the other three fixtures all required tiebreakers.
