SHILLONG: KHADC Executive Member in-charge Trade, Latiplang Kharkongor, has taken a dig at Laban MDC Sanbor Shullai for trying to mislead by falsely claiming that the Council had not informed the local Dorbar before conducting the checking of trading licenses in Laban areas on June 18.
“We have given prior information to the local Dorbar Shnong about the plan of the Council to conduct the checking of trading licenses on the shops and establishment run by the non-tribal businessmen in Laban areas,” Kharkongor told newsmen here on Friday.
Stating that he has a copy of the letter sent by the Council to the local Dorbar Shnong to inform about this exercise, he said that the letter was also duly received by the Dorbar Shnong.
Meanwhile, Kharkongor said that the Laban MDC had prevented the trade inspector and the enforcement personnel from conducting the checking.
“As per the report submitted by the officer, he (Shullai) had demanded that the exercise should be kept in abeyance. It was due to the interference of the local MDC that the official of the Council had to postpone the exercise,” he said.
Meanwhile, Laban MDC Sanbor Shullai, earlier on Friday, while addressing newsmen had denied that he had interfered by preventing the official to conducting the checking.
“I have only told the official whether they have informed the Dorbar Shnong before initiating such exercises,” Shullai said.
He also claimed that the Dorbar Shnong was in the dark about this whole exercise.
