TURA: The manager of a top contractor has reportedly been kidnapped from his home in Dobasipara locality of Tura on Wednesday night but the family remains tightlipped about the incident and has so far not filed a police complaint.
Police sources have revealed that Ashok Majumdar was taken away from his residence near the PWD quarters in Dobasipara by some persons who came calling at around 7:30 pm.
Incidentally, the abduction took place on the same day that Garo Hills police successfully rescued the Ampati SBI branch manager, Arvind Kumar, from the clutches of a gang of kidnappers from near
Mellim village.
The victim was the manager in charge of a stone crusher and quarry located in the Rajabala-Phulbari plains belt region of West Garo Hills that belonged to a top contractor of the state PWD identified as one P. Sarkar.
“We have heard about the case and our people are investigating the missing report but so far the family has not come forward to report the matter to the police,” informed district police chief Mukesh Kr. Singh.
