SHILLONG: The re-assembled budget session in the KHADC is likely to be a stormy affair with the Congress-led opposition expected to move a no-confidence confidence motion against the Ardent Basaiawmoit-led Executive Committee

The six-day re-assembled session will last from June 23 till July 1.

Former KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pynshngain N Syiem had recently indicated that they are likely to move a no-confidence motion against the EC questioning the policy to do away with the customary and social practice and process of election and nomination of Syiem.

“We are yet to take a final decision on the no-confidence motion,” a Congress MDC on condition of anonymity said on Sunday.

The present EC is under scanner for its decision to do away with the customary practice and process of election and nomination of Syiem in Malaisohmat state, by directing that the general public should participate in the election of the Syiem.

The Dorbar Ki Khlieh Nongsynshar Ka Ri Hynniewtrep had also condemned the alleged high handedness and politically motivated decision of Basaiawmoit and KP Pangniang, Executive Member in charge Elaka, who have issued orders on May 19 to do away with the customary and social practice and process of election and nomination of Syiem in Malaisohmat state.

The Dorbar Kur Pyllun Nandah Syiem, Hima Bhowal Syiemship, Mawsynram Block had also opposed the decision of Basaiawmoit to abolish the right of the clan to be a party to the selection process of the acting Syiem of Hima Bhowal Syiemship.

Earlier, the court has issued a stay order on the decision of the KHADC to forcefully remove Kynsai N Syiem as the Acting Syiem of the Syiemship.
