Border Dispute

Kohima: In continued inter-state border dispute, two persons from the Dikoi village of Nagaland were injured after unidentified miscreants from the Assam side fired four to five rounds reportedly from a muzzle loading gun on Monday afternoon.
According to official sources on Tuesday, the information of the incident at Dikoi Village was received by police only at the evening, after which they visited the spot and took stock of the prevailing tension between the village and those from across the state.
Sources said that the injured have been identified as Neilakholie (21) and Ruopfüvituo (23), both are resident of Dikoi village. Neilakholie got injured in the ear while Ruopfüvituo got wounded in the back.
Both have been taken to District Hospital Dimapur by Dikoi villagers. Sources said both the injured were constructing structures in a disputed area, when they were fired upon by the miscreants after which they ran back to the village.
It may be recalled that the inter-state border area had been under constant tension following intermittent firing from Assam side.
On May 24, one Naga was killed and another one sustained bullet injuries in an alleged exchange of fire between Assam Police personnel and alleged encroachers near Toraibari Village in Kashiram sector of Karbi Anglong bordering Dimapur. (UNI)
