SHILLONG: The North Eastern Hill University Teachers’ Association (NEHUTA) has decided to launch a protest against the University from Thursday for delaying teachers’ promotions, a statement issued here on Wednesday said.

NEHUTA held an emergency general body meeting on June 25 to decide on a plan of action following NEHU Executive Council’s refusal to consider the Review Committee’s report on teachers’ promotion which had corrected anomalies and recommended the rightful and legitimate date of eligibility of many teachers.

In the statement, the functionaries of NEHUTA said that an arbitrary change of teachers’ date of promotion had resulted in loss of many years of service for teachers of NEHU.
