Kabul: Several oil tankers caught fire and were reduced to ashes as three rockets fired by militants slammed into a parking lot in the western part of Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, drivers at the site said. “It was 11 p.m. Friday night when three rockets hit the parking lot in Arghandi area on the outskirts of Kabul city burning several oil tankers,” Tawab Khan, a driver, told Xinhua at the site of the incident.
“Two of my own oil tankers have burned to ashes and I have lost whatever I had in my life,” Khan added.
Another dejected driver who declined to be named said his oil tanker was devoured in the fire.
Fire fighters were able to extinguish the fire by 6 a.m. Saturday.
Taliban militants fighting the government to regain power have claimed responsibility for the attack, saying scores of oil tankers that were supplying fuel to the NATO-led forces have been burned to ashes in the attack. (IANS)
