New Delhi: The body of a 28-year-old Manipuri man was found in a drain here, police said Sunday.
The body of Wilungbou – who worked in a call centre – was fished out of the drain in Chirag Delhi area of south Delhi, after it was spotted by a passerby who informed police around 1.30 a.m.
He was taken to AIIMS, where he was declared brought dead. He had a clot on his head. The body was handed over to his brother after the postmortem. “We are investigating the case under Section 174 of CrPC,” said B S Jaiswal, DCP (south).
Police said there were some injury marks on the body. Another eyewitness told police he saw Wilungbou running and falling into the drain.
Police later found that the Manipuri man had come to attend a party at a friend’s place. His elder brother alleged that Wilungbou was killed and the body was dumped there.
Friends surmised that Chawang could have been running from someone and jumped in to save his life. He might not have discerned the drain in the dark.
Police are waiting for the autopsy report to ascertain whether there were any anti-mortem injuries to the body. (IANS with inputs from Agencies)
