SHILLONG: A one day intensive seminar on “Network Integration and Change Management” in Post Offices in North East Region was conducted on Tuesday in Shillong.
Directors, Superintendents, Inspector of Post Offices and System Managers from various states in the region participated in thes workshop, which was organized by North East Postal Circle in association with SIFY and Tata Consultancy Services.
North East Postal Circle which spans over six states of Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura, is undergoing IT modernization to facilitate quality service with pleasant experience to the customers. India Post is the biggest postal system in the world with more than 1,55,000 post offices across the country, with majority being located in villages. It provides, apart from mail services, insurance and inclusive banking services, making it accessible to millions of customers. Addressing the participants of the seminar in the concluding session, P.K.Swain, Postmaster General, North East Region, stressed upon the need on skill upgradation of employee sparticipating in the modernization programme to ensure better usability of technology based services for postal product to bridge the digital divide.
Addressing the participants of the workshop, . D.P.Singh Chief General Manager, North East Telecom Circle, brought out the significant role that India Post plays in social canvas of the country in making postal and banking service available even in remotest corner of the nation, thus playing a critical role in transforming the society.
P.C.Shukla, Vice Chancellor, NEHU stressed on the need for extensive use of Information Technology in leveraging the products and services to match with the fast changing expectation of present age.
