NONGPOH: Aggrieved by the inordinate delay in the inauguration of the much hyped Urban Affairs Shopping Complex in Nongpoh, which has raised eyebrows among the local people including different NGO’s in the district, the Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CORP), on July 11, urged the Ri Bhoi District Administration and the implementing department of the Urban Affair to clarify the general public on the delay in the inauguration of the shopping complex.

CORP, Nongpoh, President, Raja Sweetly, while speaking to The Shillong Times, informed that the confederation had received numerous complaints on the delay of the state government to inaugurate the shopping complex and were also questioned on the reason behind the delay.

The shopping complex, constructed in Nongpoh, houses around 200 stalls, especially to benefit those shopkeepers who were affected with the four-laning of the National Highway in Ri Bhoi District and also the unemployed youth of the district.

”To much concern over the matter, as directed by the state government application, were accordingly invited and also beneficiaries were called for the interview that had been done many months back, though all norm and criteria had been done but the government is lying behind to start functioning of the shopping complex”, Sweetly questioned.

On this regard, the CORP has strongly urged the Minister of Urban Affairs Department and the DA to start the functioning of the complex for the betterment of those beneficiaries, adding that if the government still delays in inaugurating the shopping complex, further action would be taken by the confederation.
