Teachers’ Association postpones strike

NONGSTOIN: The SSA School Teachers Association of West & South-West Khasi Hills, have postponed their decision to go on a hunger strike, on July 15 after the Education Department assured that it will release the three-month pending salaries of the teachers by the end of July.

Hope Standard Myrthong, President, Meghalaya SSA School Association, told reporters, that the Education Department approached the leaders of the Association and requested them not to agitate as the funds had already been released and that they would receive the same at the earliest.

After they get full assurance from the education department, the Association today in an emergence meeting they decide to postponed their agitation and the Association requests all the SSA teachers of West & South-West Khasi Hills to be patient as they will soon get their pay.
