SHILLONG: The State BJP has taken strong exception to Lok Sabha member from Shillong Vincent H Pala for his move to oppose ban on cow slaughter.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, BJP Meghalaya unit general secretary Dipayan Chakraborty said the MP was trying to confuse the people of the State by harping on an emotional issue.
“The BJP Government has made no such move to ban cow slaughter in the country,” Chakraborty stated.
“The Narendra Modi Government is giving special attention to the North Eastern States including Meghalaya, and has earmarked Rs. 53,706 crore for the development of the region giving special focus on railways, ) air and road connectivity within six weeks of assuming office and this is the reason that people of the State have started to appreciate the BJP Government for its sincerity,” Chakraborty said.
The State BJP urged the Lok Sabha MP to refrain from such cheap politics and cooperate with the Central Government to bring more development in the State which he had failed to achieve in his previous five-year term.
