JOWAI: Several localities in Jowai including Iongpiah, Panaliar, Chilliangraij, Dulong, Loomiongkjam and Loomkyrwiang brought their respective Deinkhlam — a secred log also known as God’s Pillar — to Iawmusiang, Jowai, on Monday, the second day of the sacred Behdeinkhlam Festival which will culminate on Wednesday.

Thousands of Niamtre faithful left their respective localities in the morning dancing along to the beats of drums and sounds of cymbals to bring the Deinkhlams to Iawmusiang in the afternoon. All the Deinkhlams will be kept overnight at Iawmusiang before they are taken back to their respective localities.

The Deinkhlam or the God’s Pillar will be erected in the heart of Iawmusiang locality on Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Jaintia Students’ Union and the All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organisation have greeted the people of Sein Raij Jowai and Sein Raij Tuber on the auspicious occasion of Behdeinkhlam.

Both the NGOs, in their respective press notes issued here, wished the people of Jaintia Hills a very happy Behdeinkhlam and hoped that the Festival will bring peace, health and wealth to the people.
