SHILLONG: A separate committee headed by KS Kropha, Principal Secretary, Mining, other than the committee which examined the coal stock, is still preparing the mining plan to ensure that there is a regulated mining of coal in the state.

An official source said on Monday that the committee, which is in consultation with the Union ministry of coal, is seeking one more month to complete its task.

The task of the committee constituted by the state government in the wake of the ban on coal mining by the National Green Tribunal on April 17 is to prepare a comprehensive mining plan which will guide the state government to resort to scientific mining of coal.

The report will be placed before NGT for its necessary action.

The committee which had a few sittings has also sought inputs from concerned departments to incorporate points in the report.

The Mining and Geology department will also prepare guidelines to facilitate implementation of Meghalaya Mines and Mineral policy.
