Majithia Wage Board constituted in WGH

TURA: The Majithia Wage Board has been constituted under the Working Journalists (Conditions of Service) and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1955, by the district enforcement cell, West Garo Hills.

The designated members are – Deputy Commissioner as the Chairman, Deputy Labour Commissioner as Member Secretary, District Information and Public Relations Officer and Treasury Officer as members.

The members nominated as representatives include Public Prosecutor Jahnavi Chettri, proprietor of A’chik Songbad Alva Sangma, journalist Saidul Khan and non-journalist newspaper employee Francis K Marak, Assistant Director, Information and Public Relations Officer, West Garo Hills.

In the meeting held recently at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the Wage Board recommendations such as classification of newspaper establishments, classification of newspaper employees, concept of variable pay, revised scales, payment of dearness allowance, house rent allowance, transport allowance, hardship allowance, leave travel allowance, mode of payment of arrears etc., were discussed.

It was decided that the Member Secretary would direct all the newspaper establishments to furnish the report on the Majithia Wage Board recommendations.
