Silver jubilee celebrations

SHILLONG: The silver jubilee celebrations of the Synkhong Rympei Thymmai (SRT) kicked off with debate competition held at KJP conference hall, Barik on Wednesday.

KHADC Executive Member in charge Trade Latiplang Kharkongor graced the occasion as the chief guest. Altogether 12 students from different colleges in the city took part in the debate competion on the topic “ka jingleit shongkha u shynrang sha iing ka kynthei ka sloit ia ka iktiar” (the tradition that the Khasi followed where the male have to live in female house after marriage weakens his authority). Bahunlang Nongkhlaw of Sanker Dev College was adjudge as the winner while Nangïaisan Kharlukhi of St Anthony’s College was the runner up and Precious Full Shabong of Sanker Dev College took away the third prize.
