BJP state unit demands removal of DGP

SHILLONG: The State unit of BJP has demanded the immediate removal of DGP PJP Hanaman saying the party was not happy over the style of functioning of the Director General of Police and demanded for immediate removal of the DGP.

The State Bharatiya Janata Party has expressed deep concern over the law and order situation in Garo Hills.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, BJP Meghalaya General Secretary Dipayan Chakraborty said that the State Government has failed totally in controlling the law and order situation of the Garo region in particular.

“Common people are leaving in the Garo Hills region with great anxiety,” he said, adding that kidnapping and extortion has become daily news in Garo Hills.

The State leaders of the party who are in Delhi now will raise the issue of law and order situation with the Ministry of Home affairs.

“We will apprise them about the worst situation in Garo Hills,” he said adding that the State leaders will also raise the central schemes issue in the State with the concerned Union Minister.
