ASAK cadre killed

TURA: An ASAK cadre was killed after he challenged police on Sunday evening in West Garo Hills.

According to police, an encounter took place at Rimthangpara area of Purakasua called Watregittim, one kilometer from Ritekpara, West Garo Hills at around 4. 30 pm on Sunday after the cadre came to confront with a police team. Earlier the police personnel got inputs about the movement of ASAK cadres in the area and conducted operations immediately.

The ASAK cadre identified as Goera D Sangma came face to face with police challenging them with a grenade. Quick reactions from police resulted in killing him on the spot as he was holding one live China-made grenade.

According to police, inquest was done by a magistrate at the spot. The villagers have identified the body. Post-mortem will be conducted on Monday and subsequently the body will be handed over to the relatives.
