Bangladeshi liquor smuggler held

SHILLONG: BSF troops deployed in South Garo Hills apprehended a Bangladeshi liquor smuggler along the international border that separates Meghalaya and Bangladesh.

The apprehended person was identified as Md Ramjan (22) from Sherpur district of Bangladesh.

During a search, 61 fottles of liquor worth Rs 13,250, one cell phone with one Bangladeshi SIM card worth Rs 4,000 and a sum of Bangladesh Taka 12 were recovered from his possession.

 During the last week, BSF troops on the Meghalaya border seized one motorcycle, 333 cubic feet of wooden logs, 130 bottles of phensedyle, 379 bottles of liquor and other contraband items worth over Rs 13 lakh while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh.
