SHILLONG: Irked by the comments of the opponents about his prolonged absence in the State Secretariat, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said that people raise the issue for their own existence.
Independent legislator Saleng Sangma recently met the Meghalaya Governor raising concern over the ‘absentee’ Chief Minister. Earlier, the NPP had also criticized the Chief Minister for his prolonged absence in Shillong.
Reacting to these criticisms, the Chief Minister told reporters on Friday that those who raise the issue do it for their survival.
“There are some people who highlight these issues so that others would know about their existence”, the Chief Minister said.
According to the Chief Minister, the work of ministers goes beyond the four walls of their office chambers and “we are not only working within the four walls of the Secretariat”. The Chief Minister said that there are state bureaucrats who are working beyond 5 pm and even upto 10 pm in the Secretariat.
