NPP condemns cops’ killing

SHILLONG: The National People’s Party (NPP) has condemned the killing of three police personnel by the GNLA militants at Tebronggre village near Rongram on Friday.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, NPP spokesperson James Sangma demanded due compensation to the bereaved families of the police constables who died while performing their duties.

The NPP also condemned the killing of another non tribal labourer from Mankachar in West Garo Hills District and urged the district administration to take stock of the situation and see that peace prevails in the border areas of Assam and Meghalaya.

The NPP also lauded the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills for his prompt response to the suggestion made by Tura MP PA Sangma in launching a helpline for people to call and inform the police of any case of extortion, kidnapping, murder and other untoward incidents happening in Garo Hills from time to time.
