Ri-Bhoi delights in first kickboxing championship

SHILLONG: The 1st Ri-Bhoi District Level Kickboxing Championship came to an end on Saturday at Umling Umsarang village.
The Kickboxing Association of Ri-Bhoi District and the Meghalaya Association of Kickboxing Organisations were the main organisers of the two-day tournament.
Sixty kickboxers took part and the Best Team trophy went to Nongtluh Area near Umden village with the runners-up trophy going to Tasku village near Lailad.
The Fair Play award, give to the most disciplined team, was bagged by Umling Umsarang.
An interesting feature of the ring constructed for the purpose of the championship was that it was made out of locally avilable bamboo poles by the villagers.
M Syiem, Ri-Bhoi District Sports Association president was the chief guest at the closing ceremony.

48kg junior: Gold – Anthony Shadap, Silver – Everest Diya, Bronze – Donlang Trang and Mathes Makri
U-40kg junior: Gold – Kiran Malai, Silver – Rosterwell Thangkhiew, Bronze – Banteilang Maiong and Bankyrshan Lyngdoh
U-44kg junior: Gold – Silverstar Marten, Silver – Banskhem Waniong
36kg sub-junior: Gold – Bilshon Thangkhiew, Silver – Samuel Syngkli
