SHILLONG: The Association of Qualified Grade-IV-2011, East Khasi Hills District on Wednesday called off its ongoing indefinite hunger strike after the State Government extended the validity of the merit for another six months.

The validity of the merit list was supposed to end on July 29.

While welcoming the decision of the Government, the Association general secretary, Paskha Lyngdoh Nonglait asserted that their demand for extension would stand as long as all the qualified candidates get appointment.

“We have called off the hunger strike after receiving the official order in this regard,” Nonglait said in a statement.
