Tripura CS elevated as Secy of MoT

Agartala: Tripura government on Thursday appointed G Kameswara Rao as new Chief Secretary and successor of incumbent Chief Secretary Dr S K Panda who has been elevated as Secretary to Ministry of Textile (MoT).
Dr Panda, an IAS of 1980 batch, the longest serving Chief Secretary of the state, is scheduled to join in Textile Ministry Friday.
An official statement here on Thursday said Mr Rao, an IAS officer of 1983 batch of Manipur-Tripura cadre will hold the charge of Chief Secretary besides, his earlier assignments including Home, General Administration (Personnel & Training, Confidential & Cabinet) along with Administrative Reforms and PWD.
Before leaving for Delhi, Dr Panda said in his 33 years of service career, he spent more than 20 years in Tripura and he was the first IAS officer who had been posted as Block Development Officer (BDO) in 1982 as desired by the then Chief Minister Nripen Chakraborty.
Dr Panda has been recognised for his tireless effort in convergence of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) in Tripura and cluster development of sericulture that contributed the state to produce international quality Tripura silk.
“I believe along with geographical advantage to establish connectivity with South-East Asian countries, Tripura is a takeoff state with rich natural resources like gas and bamboo but need to manage human resources well by imparting skill based training,” Dr Panda opined. (UNI)
