SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Friday slammed the ANVC-B for their continued illegal activities while stating that the outfit’s links with Pakistan-based terror promoter ISI and other agencies cannot be ruled out.

The Chief Minister said there was a need to conduct a thorough and detailed investigation to find out all the links and illegal activities of ANVC-B which has been accused of murdering migrant labourers from Assam to kindle communal unrest along the volatile inter-state border.

Suspecting that there was a larger conspiracy by ANVC-B to create unrest by killing innocent migrant labourers from Assam, Sangma was full of appreciation for the State Police which exposed the nefarious intentions of the ANVC-B in the nick of time.

“We cannot rule out the conspiracy plotted by ANVC-B in murdering migrant labourers from Assam which could have led to serious ramifications in the region and Assam,” Sangma said.

The Chief Minister informed that he had already instructed the State security agencies to investigate and unmask the “smart mind” which was plotting and planning such conspiracies.

Expressing his unhappiness with the ANVC-B for continuing their illegal activities despite being a signatory to the draft peace settlement, Sangma warned that the law of the land would prevail against anyone indulging in illegal activities.

“It is clear that ANVC-B is still engaging in criminal activities which is unexpected from a signatory of the agreed settlement,” he said.

To a query on whether the ANVC-B would be kept out of the final peace pact, the Chief Minister said that the Government would analyze the same.

“I have asked the Political department to share the information with the Central Government and I will also flag the matter with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Prime Minister,” he said. It may be recalled that Tura Police had, last week, raided a camp of the ANVC-B in Edenbari, West Garo Hills and seized an assortment of weapons and arrested 24 cadres over the outfit’s alleged role in the recent attacks on migrant labourers that has left two dead in less than a week in Tura.
