CM’s assistance schemes

Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma will distribute cheques to the beneficiaries of Chief Minister’s Social Assistance Scheme for the infirm, widows and disabled in a function in Kharkutta C&RD Block on Tuesday next. According to the District Social Welfare Officer, the beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Wedding Assistance Scheme to the orphan girls will also receive the cheques on the same day.

Medical camp

As part of the World Bone and Joint Day on August 1, the Orthopedic Society, Shillong conducted a free Osteoporosis check up camp at Bhoirymbong CHC. Free BMD examination was provided along with medicines .The Orthopedic Society Shillong was led by its president, Dr. W Sutnga, Secretary, Dr. S.Agarwal among others.

Photo exhibition

The Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Shillong will hold a five-day photo exhibition on Health & Family Welfare Awareness starting from August 2 at Jhalupara Community Hall. The Chief Executive Officer, Shillong Cantonment Board will formally inaugurate the function.

Debate competition

Shillong Commerce organised the 2nd JJM Nichol’s Roy Memorial College Debate Competition on the topic “Ban on rat hole mining will adversely affect the livelihood of people of the State” at the college premises on July 26. A total number of nine colleges including the host college participated in the competition. Shillong Commerce represented by Macdonald Lyngdoh and Kelvenel Maring was adjudged as the winner.

Outreach prog

The All Saints Cathedral Youth Fellowship will organize an outreach programme in collaboration with Livejam Foundation from August 4-8.
